One killed, two injured in Holon gangland shooting

Passerby moderately hurt in drive-by attack

One man was killed and two were injured in a shooting incident in the central Israeli city of Holon Thursday night, in what police believe was a gang-related attack.

The shooting, which injured one bystander, took place near Wolfson Medical Center in the city.

Paramedics responding to the incident evacuated a moderately injured man, 53, who was reportedly a passerby caught in the line of fire. The other wounded man, 25, brought himself to the hospital with moderate injuries. A third man, 29, was declared dead at the scene.

The two men are believed to be crime figures from Jaffa known to the police.

Police said the gunmen opened fire from a passing car at a group of people standing near Wolfson and fled the scene.

A torched car, suspected to be the vehicle used by the perpetrators in their escape, was found not far from the scene shortly after.

Police said an investigation was under way.
