Comedian Todd Barry, known for his stand-up work on American late night television, as well as his recurring roles on “Louie” and “Flight of the Conchords,” will perform in Israel as part of the recently launched Funny People Series.
The performance series will bring American comics to Israel, beginning with Barry, who will perform at the Tel Aviv and Herzliya Zappa clubs in June.
Famous for his dry, droll sense of humor as well as his friendship with other comedians, including Sarah Silverman and Jerry Seinfeld, Barry is considered the quintessential New York comedian.
According to Gil Uliamperl, CEO of the Sabres Group which is producing the tour, the English-speaking comedy market has expanded in Israel, with visits from American comics such as Sarah Silverman, Jeff Dunham and Chelsea Handler.
Another source of English-speaking comedians in Israel has been the annual Comedy for Koby show, which just celebrated its eighth season.
Uliamperl said he’s planning on bringing several comics to Israel through the end of the year for the Funny People Series.
Barry will perform at Zappa Tel Aviv on Wednesday, June 3, 10 p.m., and at Zappa Herzliya on Thursday, June 4, 10 p.m. Tickets cost NIS 160 and are available online at Zappa.
