Beit Shemesh man found dead in Tiberias forest, over a week after he went missing

A dead body located in the Switzerland Forest near Tiberias this afternoon has been identified as belonging to 24-year-old Katriel Nachman Keinan, who went missing early last week, his Chabad Hasidic community says.

Police say a body was located in the forest alongside items and personal effects linked to Keinan, following a large-scale search by officers, rescue forces and volunteers.

The body has been transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Abu Kabir for formal identification, according to police.

The statement does not specify a cause of death.

Keinan was last seen in security camera footage exiting the tomb of Rabbi Meir Ba’al HaNess, close to where the body was found today.

Keinan, a resident of Beit Shemesh, was on his way to Safed and spoke over the phone with his brother on Sunday night last week, the brother, Daniel, has told the Ynet news site.

Their mother had also received a message from Keinan on Monday saying his phone was low on battery and telling her not to worry, according to the brother.
