BUDAPEST, Hungary — The parliamentary group of Hungary’s ruling Tisza party unanimously supports Jewish chess legend Judit Polgar for president, and Tisza lawmakers will make their final decision at their next meeting, the group’s leader Andrea Bujdoso says.

Prime Minister Peter Magyar said yesterday that he would ask Judit Polgar, widely regarded as the greatest female chess player of all time, to take up the largely ceremonial role of Hungary’s next president temporarily, until a new constitution is passed.
