The Defense Ministry announces that it will recognize Avraham Hasano, 54, of Kiryat Arba in the West Bank, as a terror victim.
Hasano was killed two weeks ago in an incident near Hebron.
He had stopped his car after it was hit by rocks thrown by Palestinians, and got out carrying a large wooden stick, apparently with the intention of attacking the rock throwers. Shortly after he moved onto the road, waving the stick threateningly, Hasano was run over by a truck. He was airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead shortly afterward.
The decision to recognize Hasano as a terror victim was delayed due to lingering doubt as to whether the driver of the truck, who fled the scene but then turned himself in to Israeli authorities, had deliberately run him over.
