Knesset committee advances key sections of budget-linked Arrangements Law

The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approves advancing several sections of the Arrangements Law for the second and third readings needed to pass them into law.
The Arrangements Law, a key part of the annual budgetary legislative package, determines how funds will be disbursed and must be passed by the Knesset along with the budget to avoid triggering early elections.
Lawmakers voted earlier this month to split the Arrangements Law, which is needed for the approval of the 2026 state budget, into two bills in order to facilitate its advancement through the Knesset.
The clauses approved by the committee include proposals to increase the competitiveness of government-owned defense firms in the global marketplace and ease the appointment procedures for directors in foreign subsidiaries of such companies; and streamline the process for transferring abandoned assets to state control by shortening the search period for the property’s owners from 15 to 10 years.
