Police arrest man for spitting at ex-PM Olmert in Tel Aviv

Police have arrested a man for allegedly spitting on former prime minister Ehud Olmert at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque earlier today.

Officers arrested the man, in his 40s, on suspicion of assault “after he allegedly spat at a public figure,” police say.

The suspect is a well-known right-wing activist, Channel 12 News reports.

Olmert, a former member of the right-wing Likud party, is a staunch supporter of a two-state solution and since leaving office, has been intensely critical of the policies advanced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
