Tel Aviv Stock Exchange shares climb, shekel gains amid investor optimism for US-Iran deal

Shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange climb and the shekel gains amid investor optimism that the US and Iran could be close to a deal for a 60-day ceasefire extension, during which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange’s benchmark TA-125 index increases 2.3 percent in morning trading. The benchmark index is up more than 18% since the start of the year.

The TA-35 index of blue-chip companies jumps 1.9%. The TA-Insurance Index advances 3.2% and the TA-Real Estate Index soars 4.4%. The TA-Construction Index gains 5.6%. The shekel appreciates 0.2% and is trading around NIS 2.88 against the dollar.
