Police announce that they arrested three teenagers last night on suspicion of attacking and robbing a bus driver in Jerusalem earlier in the evening.
The youths, ages 15-16, assaulted the driver after he told them it was forbidden to vape on the bus, police say. They allegedly beat him, stole his phone, then alighted and began throwing stones at the bus.
The assailants also hurled stones at a bus whose driver tried to help his colleague. Both drivers were injured in the attack. The buses’ windows and glass doors were shattered as a result of the stone-throwing.
Police who arrived at the scene managed to retrieve the driver’s stolen phone, which contained evidence of the attack.
The three suspects were detained for questioning on suspicion of assaulting a public servant, theft and intentional property damage. Police will bring them to court today for an extension on their remand.
