Woman remanded in custody over Negev car crash that killed baby
Yana Bloom is suspected of driving under the influence, causing death of Maayan Domanovich and injuring his parents and siblings
A woman suspected of reckless manslaughter in the death of an infant in a car crash last week will remain in police custody until at least Thursday, the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court ruled Monday.
Yana Bloom crashed her vehicle into a car at the Negev Junction on Route 40 last Wednesday. Ten-month-old Maayan Domanovich was killed and his parents and three siblings were injured.
Bloom, a 25-year-old resident of Rishon Lezion, is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol after an Independence Day party the previous night, swerving into oncoming traffic and causing the crash.
She is currently hospitalized at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba due to injuries she sustained in the crash, and was not present for the remand hearing.
Her hospital bed is being guarded by police officers, and no visitors are being allowed entry.
Bloom claims she does not recollect the accident and denies having been under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Police say a blood test has indicated differently.

The infant’s father and brother were critically injured in the crash. His mother and two other siblings were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Three of the injured were trapped inside the vehicles until firefighters rescued them.
The mother requested that the organs of her one-year-old son be donated.
Since the start of the year, 116 people have been killed on the country’s roads.
