One-year-old killed, six others injured in head-on collision in southern Israel
At least two people in serious condition from crash on Route 40 at Negev Junction, one of them a boy, 6; two other children also hurt
A one-year-old child was killed and six others were injured in a collision between two vehicles at the Negev Junction on Route 40 in the south of the country on Wednesday, medical officials said.
The Magen David Adom emergency service said medics who arrived at the scene were forced to declare the child dead after finding him with no vital signs.
The victim was later named as Maayan Domanovich.
Three adults who were injured in the crash were trapped inside the vehicles until firefighters cut them free.
The injured were taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, including two in serious condition; a man, 40, and a six-year-old boy with head injuries. Two women, both around 35 suffered moderate injuries, while two children were lightly hurt, MDA said.
Police blocked Route 40 in both directions as emergency services attended to the scene.
