IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot was set to be hospitalized Monday to undergo a treatment in the coming days, the army said.

The army refused to divulge the nature of the treatment, citing Eisenkot’s privacy, but said he is expected to be released from Beilinson Hospital in a Petah Tikva in a few days.

The ailment was discovered by his doctor two months ago, and it has not affected his ability to serve, an IDF source said.

While Eisenkot, 56, is in the hospital, his deputy, Yair Golan, will be acting chief of staff.
