A pipe bomb was discovered near the mayor of Nahariya’s parking spot on Monday.

A cleaning worker alerted police after he found the explosive device near Jackie Sabag’s parking place next to city hall in the northern town. The device was defused safely.

Police are investigating the incident.

Sabag has faced threats on his life before and at one point had a private security escort.

Nahariya is home to reputed underworld figure Michael Mor, who is suspected of ordering attacks on police and city officials in the city in the past.
