Last month, two rockets which Israeli security forces believe were fired from Sinai landed in open areas in southern Israel.

The rocket attacks were followed by a terror attack along the border with Israel.

Israeli officials have said that the Egyptian area is becoming increasingly lawless, and is harboring terrorists, including Palestinian gunmen. Egypt denies Palestinian terrorists are active in the area.
