Checkpoint guard shoots Palestinian attacker in Maale Adumim

After rear-ending a police vehicle, Bethlehem resident attempts to seize security official’s weapon

A security guard shot a Palestinian attacker in the stomach on Wednesday, after the man threateningly approached a checkpoint in the West Bank settlement of Maale Adumim and attempted to seize another guard’s weapon.

The Palestinian, a 30-year-old resident of Bethlehem, first rear-ended a police vehicle that was standing nearby. He then exited his vehicle, which was registered in Jerusalem according to Israel’s Channel 10, and charged the checkpoint.

The attacker was seriously wounded in the shooting, and a Magen David Adom team evacuated him to Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem.
