Amid the endless talk of a possible war between Israel and Iran, some Israelis have found a way to express their affection for Iranians and their stand against a possible preemptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities — via a new website, Israel Loves Iran.
The site, which features posters of Israeli citizens along with the words “Iranians — We will never bomb your country, we love you,” has received thousands of hits and comments over the past few days from all sides of the political spectrum.
The simple English-language site, launched by two Betzalel design school graduates, allows visitors to upload their own photos and leave comments. It also features a “Tell us about Iran” section where Iranians can educate Israelis about their country.
In response, a similar series of Internet posters started appearing on Facebook on Sunday, this time showing sites of Jewish interest around Iran and the words: “We love you Israeli people. The Iranian people do not like any war with any country.”
Coverage of the phenomenon in Israel, and multiple notices on the Israel-Iranian Friendship page on Facebook, drove another surge of traffic to the site on Sunday afternoon, overwhelming the servers and rendering the site temporarily inaccessible. But it was back up when last we checked.
