Ultra-Orthodox block roads, burn garbage in Jerusalem

Demonstrators hurl rocks at a police car to protest arrest of two men for stealing from antiquities site

Some 100 ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked a road near Kikar Shabbat in Jerusalem Wednesday, torching dumpsters to protest the arrest of two ultra-Orthodox men last month.

The men reportedly were arrested for attempting to remove bones from an archaeological burial site near Beit Shemesh.

Police forces that arrived at the scene dispersed the demonstration. The protesters hurled rocks at a police car, causing no injuries and minor damage to the vehicle.
