A 5-year-old child who was found unconscious after being left in a hot car in the central city of Lod has been pronounced dead at Shamir-Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center, a hospital spokesperson says.
The spokesperson says that police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
This is the fourth death of a child left in a vehicle since early July.
Toddlers dying after being forgotten in vehicles is a repeated occurrence in Israel, where temperatures inside locked cars can soar to 70°C (160°F) — a level that can prove dangerous to children even over brief periods.
Ambient temperatures in Lod at the time the boy was pulled from the car were around 32.7º C (90.8º F).
