Hamas says Palestinians united in opposition to Trump Jerusalem announcement

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas agrees with him on a united Palestinian opposition to the possible move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“We agreed that the Palestinian masses, at home or abroad, today and every day onward, will take to the streets to express its anger and its hold on Jerusalem, the capital of the state of Palestine,” he says in an interview on Al Jazeera.

Haniyeh says Abbas made the agreement during phone calls several days ago.

Abbas’s Fatah party has not yet declared protests, but has told Palestinians to be ready for developments should US President Trump declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel.
