Israel will continue fighting in Gaza, and will set the stage for more peace agreements in the region, says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video message for the Jewish new year.

“We will continue to act with determination until we achieve all the goals of the war, in order to secure our future in our wonderful land,” says Netanyahu in his Rosh Hashanah message. “And in doing so, we will also pave the way to expanding the circle of peace.”

He boasts that Israel removed an existential threat from Iran over the past year.

“We struck hard at the Iranian axis. We did so in Lebanon, in Syria, in Yemen, and in Iran itself,” he says

“Our forces are now operating with great strength in the Gaza Strip to decisively defeat Hamas and to bring all of our hostages home,” he adds.

After causing a stir last week by saying Israel might have to become a “super Sparta,” Netanyahu says that Israel “will continue to advance our economy and our security — through technology, cyber, artificial intelligence, our defense industries, and developments that are unmatched in the world and that break the boundaries of imagination.”

“May this be a year of unity, a year of victory, a year of peace,” he says.
