Netanyahu trying to convince Otzma Yehudit and Zehut to merge — report

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to push a merger between the far-right Otzma Yehudit party and the quasi-libertarian nationalist Zehut, in a bid to ensure right-wing votes are not lost on parties that will not pass the electoral threshold, the Kan public broadcaster reports.

The ruling Likud party was said to have conducted a poll that found such a union would clear the mark of 3.25 percent of the votes in the upcoming elections and enter the Knesset.

Otzma Yehudit and Zehut were both left out today of a merger between other, larger religious right-wing parties.
