Coalition MKs disrupt Knesset event on violence against Palestinians, threaten attendees
Lawmakers steal food, assail slain hostage’s daughter-in-law, amid discussion of unchecked settler attacks; MK tells ‘terrorist’ colleagues they’ll be expelled from country

Coalition lawmakers on Tuesday stormed a Knesset event on settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, threatening participants in what the Arab-majority Hadash-Ta’al party called “displays of violence, incitement, and political thuggery.”
At various times throughout the event, called “Transfer in Practice: Palestinian Communities Under Attack,” right-wing lawmakers entered the hall, shouting at attendees, including Israeli peace activists, civil society groups, diplomats, and bereaved families.
The word “transfer” refers to the idea of forcibly expelling Arabs from Israel or the West Bank.
Footage from the event captured lawmakers shouting at and threatening participants. Otzma Yehudit’s Almog Cohen told attendees, “May two thousand of your mothers weep and not one of ours.”ֿ
Otzma Yehudit MK Limor Son Har-Melech accused those present, whom she called “terror supporters,” of seeking a “transfer of Jews from Judea and Samaria” – Biblical terminology for the West Bank – by establishing a “Palestinazi state.”
Hadash Ta’al MK Touma-Sliman responded, “You know a Palestinian state will be established, the occupation will end, and you will have to fold. And, I’m sorry to say, you have a few more days in power, but you’ll go away soon.”

Touma-Silman organized the event together with fellow party member Ofer Cassif, to draw attention to what the party called a “government policy encouraging settler violence” and the displacement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
Attacks by extremist settlers have been taking place against Palestinians in the West Bank on a near-daily basis with almost total impunity, with critics accusing the government of turning a blind eye to the violence. Thousands of Palestinians have been displaced.
Last month, it was reported that up to 80 percent of incidents that Israeli troops in the West Bank record are Jewish attacks on Palestinians.
At one point on Tuesday, Religious Zionism’s Zvi Sukkot declared to those present, “We will transfer you, but we’ll keep it classy. We’ll put you on organized buses and stick to the law.”
He later said that “we have no problem with Arabs” but only with “terror supporters.”
Amid the disruptions, Ayala Metzger, daughter-in-law of slain hostage Yoram Metzger, was escorted from the hall by Knesset security while Cohen and Likud’s Nissim Vaturi yelled at her, calling her a “terror supporter” and a “terrorist,” according to the Arab-majority party Hadash-Ta’al.
In another incident, Vaturi filmed himself taking food from the conference and distributing it in the Knesset hallways, telling the cameraman that he was taking food “from the conference of the terrorists.”

Likud MK Ofir Katz, the coalition whip, also disrupted the event, calling fellow MK Ayman Odeh a “terrorist,” and saying it was “our failure that a terrorist like you sits here.”
Odeh shot back, “Tell me, how did you manage to isolate Israel in just three years? How did you manage to make Palestine the symbol of freedom worldwide? Do you know how much has been invested, over decades, to make Palestine a symbol of freedom? You managed to do it in two years.”
Amid the exchange, Likud firebrand Tally Gotliv also took hold of a microphone and shouted, “Maybe condemn Hamas, who raped our daughters and sons! You want us in the sea!”
