Rafah Crossing won’t open today, contrary to reports, security official tells ToI

The Rafah Crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will not open today, contrary to some reports, an Israeli security official tells The Times of Israel.

“Preparations are ongoing for its opening for the exit and entry of Gazans only,” the official says.

Yesterday, Israel said it would not reopen the crossing as a sanction against Hamas for its slow release of the bodies of hostages, though it appears the crossing was not ready to be opened today anyway.

The official also says that humanitarian aid continues to enter Gaza as usual, via the Kerem Shalom Crossing and other crossings, following security inspection by Israeli authorities.
