Trump announces Jerusalem as Israel’s capital
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleTrump announces that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital, saying the move is “long overdue.”
He calls acknowledging the fact “necessary for achieving peace.”
“Today Jerusalem is the seat of the modern Israeli government. It is the home of the Knesset and well as the Supreme Court,” he says, listing a series of official bodies situated there.
He adds that US officials have for decades met Israeli counterparts in Jerusalem, as he did.
