Trump says embassy will move, commits to two states if both sides agree

Trump says he directed the State Department to begin working on moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.

He clarifies that this move is not meant to deviate from “our lasting commitment” to a lasting peace agreement.

“We are not taking a position of any final status issues, including the final boundaries or the resolution of contested borders. Those questions are up to the parties involved,” he says.

He says the US is committed to facilitating an agreement “acceptable to both sides.”

Trump adds that the US “would support a two-state solution, if agreed to by both sides.”
