Giving the third speech at the UN two-state solution conference co-sponsored by France and Saudi Arabia, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres begins by noting his “disappointment” at the US decision to prevent the Palestinian Authority’s leadership from attending the New York confab.

Expressing his support for the conference’s goal, Guterres asserts, “Statehood for Palestinians is a right, not a reward.”
