Police in New York say a half-burned body that was found on Saturday in a dumpster at a gas station in Long Island was that of Menachem Stark, a Hasidic real estate developer who was kidnapped outside his Brooklyn office on Thursday.
Stark’s wife initially called a local religious security unit when Stark didn’t return home late Thursday night, the New York Post reported.
Video footage taken from Stark’s office reportedly showed him being taken into a van after a struggle outside his office in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood.
Stark’s family offered a $100,000 reward for his return.
Stark was believed to have been carrying several thousand dollars on him at the time of his abduction.
