Airlines will compensate passengers for flights arriving more than two hours late, and fully reimburse those who are delayed more than eight hours, the Knesset’s Finance Committee decided on Wednesday.

The law, initiated by MK Ahmad Tibi (Ta’al) and pushed through by head of the Finance Committee Carmel Shama Ha-Cohen (Likud), means passengers will suffer less when their flights are late, MKs said.

The new decree is set to come into effect in August.
