Senior Palestine Liberation Organization official Yasser Abed Rabbo called on Wednesday for the world community to save the dormant peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Israel Radio reported.

Abed Rabbo blamed the ongoing stalemate in the peace process on Israel, saying it persists in hampering the two-state solution. “Israel killed the peace process,” he was quoted as saying.

Abed Rabbo spoke in response to Robert H. Serry, the UN’s Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, who on Tuesday addressed the UN Security Council on the peril of the continuing deadlock in peace talks between the PA and Israel.

According to Abed Rabbo, the ongoing deadlock will be on the agenda of the three-day Arab League summit in Baghdad that begins Thursday.
