Medics treat 60 in Haifa road race

15,000 people take part in run through northern port city; one runner collapses and is in serious condition

Some 15,000 people took part in a Haifa road race on Friday, with medics treating 60 people, including one who was in a serious condition.

“Paramedics attending the race treated 60 people, including five who were taken to hospital,” the Magen David Adom rescue service said.

One of them was a runner who collapsed and was in a serious condition, MDA said.

Dozens of roads were closed during the 19th edition of the popular race. Haifa municipality said some 15,000 people took part, including thousands of school children, who ran a 2.5 kilometer race.
