Three men were killed and another was critically injured on Route 1 late Monday night, when their car spun out on the hilly, rain-soaked highway outside Jerusalem.

The men, all in their 30s, were trapped in their car after it struck the guard rail and then spun into an empty car parked on the shoulder of the highway, Magen David Adom officials said.

The lone survivor among them, who suffered numerous serious injuries, was taken to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem neighborhood in critical condition.
