A women was arrested by Jerusalem police on Monday after she was caught driving with 17 children in her car in the neighborhood of Armon Hanatziv.

The policeman who pulled the driver over was shocked to find her car — a standard five-seat family vehicle — was carrying 17 children between the ages of six months and 11 years, in addition to the driver.

The 30-year-old woman explained her actions by saying the school bus had broken down and she needed to take the children home.

Police scheduled a hearing for the woman, a resident of Jerusalem’s Abu Tur neighborhood, at the municipal traffic court, and additional cars were brought to take the children home safely.
