IDF and police forces arrived in Susya following reports of arson in the area, the security forces say in a statement, after Palestinian media and Israeli activists reported settlers had set fire to homes and vehicles in the southern West Bank village.
The flames have been put out and no injuries were reported, the statement says. It adds that the forces are scanning the area for suspects and that police and the Shin Bet are investigating the incident.
“Security forces harshly condemn incidents like this, and will continue to act to preserve law and order in the area,” the statement says.
It does not specify whether the suspected perpetrators are thought to be Israeli. No arrests have been reported.
Security camera footage from Susya, published by Palestinian media and timestamped to about 8:15 p.m., shows over a dozen masked people dressed in dark hoodies setting fire to a truck and another vehicle near a pair of structures.
At one point, one of the people picks up an object from the ground and tosses it in the direction of the camera. Threads of tzitzit, or Jewish ritual undergarment, peek out from under the hoodie of another person beside him.
