Sacha Baron Cohen brings Ali G character back to life at Wimbledon
Video shows the British Jewish actor clad in white tracksuit emblazoned with ‘official Ganja dealer’ arguing with police over whether or not he offered drugs to children

British Jewish actor Sacha Baron Cohen revived his popular satirical character Ali G for a surprise appearance at the Wimbledon Championships final over the weekend.
Baron Cohen’s in-character appearance at the world-famous tennis tournament, where he was decked out in an all-white tracksuit emblazoned with “Official Ganja Dealer” and a gold chain sporting a bedazzled tennis ball, came in the wake of reports that he recently wrapped production on a new Ali G film.
The character, who, along with Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev, is one of Baron Cohen’s most well-known comedy acts, is modeled after the stereotypical British inner-city man, or chav, as they are often known.
In a video posted to the official Ali G Instagram account, Baron Cohen described Wimbledon as “the World Cup of something called tennis, which is like a crap version of ping pong.”
“Them say that tennis is better played on grass, which is why I intend to sell as much of it while I is here,” he added in the character’s trademark Multicultural London English dialect.
The caption of the video — which appears to have since been deleted– said that anyone “lookin 2 get grand slammed” should come and find him.
The only video that was still viewable on the official Instagram account as of Thursday showed Ali G arguing with a police officer, who said there had been reports of him “turning around and offering children behind you things you shouldn’t be,” including “cigarettes and drugs.”

In the same video, Ali G claimed that Prince Harry owed him money “because I was his dealer at Eton.”
Baron Cohen first appeared as Ali G on a British sketch comedy show in 1998 before he was given his own series, Da Ali G Show, in 2000.
The show featured three of his characters, Ali G, Borat Sagdiyev, and Brüno Gehard, interviewing unsuspecting public figures and celebrities.
In 2002, he produced his only Ali G movie to date, “Ali G Indahouse.” There are no details as of yet about the new Ali G movie reportedly in the works.
