An IDF brigadier general was suspended Monday evening in light of an ongoing investigation into sexual harassment charges, the army announced on Tuesday.
A former soldier under his command accused the high-ranking officer of “sexual offenses” that are alleged to have taken place some 4-5 years ago, an IDF spokesperson said.
The IDF Military Police is investigating the allegation, and the officer in question has been brought in for questioning. In the meantime the brigadier general has been removed from his position.
“Last night the deputy chief of staff suspended the officer until further notice,” the spokesperson said.
The officer’s identity and position are being withheld, the IDF said.

It was not immediately clear what rank the officer held at the time of the alleged incident.
On Thursday, the head of the IDF’s Southern Command Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir suspended a male battalion commander and female subordinate officer for conduct unbecoming and abuse of power, in light of a Military Police investigation.
The two suspended officers — a lieutenant colonel and captain — are believed to have had an inappropriate relationship.
Though that investigation is ongoing, there was enough evidence and suspicion to warrant the disciplinary measure.
We can't do this work alone.
The war with Iran has been draining for all of us in Israel. But when I heard about a high casualty incident – ballistic missile impacts in Arad and Dimona that left nearly 200 people wounded – I drank a cup of coffee, packed a bag, and headed south.
There, I spoke with Shilgit, the head of an after-school program for underprivileged youth. Standing outside her destroyed center, Shilgit said it was a miracle that no children were hurt and spoke about the community coming together in the hours since.
As a Times of Israel reporter, I’m committed to telling stories of resilience like Shilgit’s. But my colleagues and I can't do this alone.
