Arbel Aloni, who was convicted at the age of 14 along with his friend Moshe Ben-Ivgi for the murder of taxi driver Derek Roth in Herzliya in 1994, was released Wednesday from the Rimonim Prison facility after serving a 21-year sentence.
Aloni was initially sentenced to 16 years in prison, but he and Ben-Ivgi both received an extra five years of jail time after they robbed an elderly woman while on furlough.
Ben-Ivgi is still serving his sentence, and is scheduled to be released in three years.
The teens, both from the coastal town of Herzliya, shot Roth in the back six times, killing him instantly. The two never disclosed which one of them actually pulled the trigger.
The murder shocked the country given the young age of the two killers and the apparent lack of motive for the deadly attack.
