El Al extends its cancellation of most flights through April 4

Israel’s flag carrier El Al says it extends the cancellation of the vast majority of regular flights planned through April 4, as more severe wartime airspace restrictions continue to limit operations at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.

“Following the decision of the Ministry of Transportation to significantly reduce air traffic, which includes a major decrease in flight frequency and limits on the number of passengers permitted on each outbound flight from Israel, customers who planned to depart Israel through April 4 had their flights canceled, including the corresponding return flights,” El Al says.

Instead, El Al will operate a restricted wartime flight schedule to a limited number of key cities: New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Paris, Rome, and Athens. Flights arriving in Israel from these gateways are operating without passenger restrictions.

“Most passengers originally scheduled to fly through March 23 have already been rebooked on these flights,” El Al says. “Due to the limited number of available seats, rebooking for passengers waiting to be assigned is handled according to ticketing time order, giving priority to exceptional humanitarian and medical cases.”

Ticket sales for departing flights from Israel are closed through April 15, while inbound flights to Israel can be purchased based on available seats.
