In an apparent swipe at Israel as it approaches a week into Operation Guardian of the Walls responding to Hamas rocket fire, Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweets, “Apartheid states aren’t democracies.”
Recent reports by the Israeli rights group B’Tselem and US group Human Rights Watch also labeled Israel as an apartheid state. Israel vociferously objects to the term, noting that Arab residents have full citizenship.
