Strikes around Iran and Israel’s nuclear sites risk unleashing an “unmitigated catastrophe,” the UN rights chief says as the UN Human Rights Council discusses Tehran’s attacks across the Gulf.
“Recent missile strikes near nuclear sites in both Israel and Iran underscore the immense danger of further escalation. States are flirting with unmitigated catastrophe,” Volker Turk says in a video statement.
A recent Iranian missile strike hit the city of Dimona, some 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) away from Israel’s nuclear research center.
