UK police say they have arrested two men on suspicion of carrying out an antisemitic arson attack that set fire to four ambulances belonging to a Jewish community organization in north London this week.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police say the two men, aged 47 and 45, were arrested at separate addresses in northwest London and central London, without identifying the suspects.

“They were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and both men have been taken to a London police station where they currently remain in police custody,” the statement says. “Officers are carrying out searches at the two addresses.”

Police say they are still searching for further suspects, noting that three people were seen in CCTV footage setting fire to the ambulances that belonged to Hatzola, a Jewish not-for-profit volunteer organization that responds to medical emergencies.

“We fully recognise the local community will still be concerned and our investigation very much remains active and we will continue to work to identify and seek to arrest all of those who may have been involved,” says Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, which is leading the investigation.
