Man shot dead in Tira
23-year-old Nawwaf Haj Ashqarani is third person to die violently in Arab communities this week, 85th this year

Police were investigating a suspected murder of a man shot dead on Wednesday in the predominantly Arab city of Tira, in central Israel.
The victim, 23-year-old Nawwaf Haj Ashqarani, was rushed to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Ashqarani’s death marks the 85th violent death in Arab communities this year, according to Channel 13 news.
Police also said they have opened an investigation into the fatal Tuesday shooting of Adam Ziad Amon, a 20-year-old resident of the northern town of Yarka. Amon was rushed in critical condition to the Galil medical center in the northern city of Nahariyya, where doctors pronounced him dead.

On Saturday,17-year-old Itai Yitzhak was killed in a fight in the northern village of Muqeible. According to Hebrew media reports, a fight broke out between teens from Muqeible and the nearby village of Gan Ner. Yitzhak was fatally injured with a sharp object during the brawl.
The central city of Tira has seen a string of violent incidents this year.
Arab parliamentarians and civil society organizations have decried the deadly plague of violence in their communities, where firearms and organized crime proliferate. They’ve accused Israeli authorities of failing to stem the tide of violence.
