The IDF Home Front Command has pushed a new update to its mobile application that aims to improve the user experience with clearer notifications for attacks and for when an incident is over.

As part of the update, each type of alert will be displayed with different icons, colors, and sounds, which the military says has the goal of “enabling immediate identification of the type of incident and the required action.”
A yellow alert signals an early warning for a potential threat, while a red one instructs civilians to seek shelter. A green “all-clear” notification is sent once an incident has concluded.
All alerts and updates will now be displayed in chronological order on a central screen in the app.
Additionally, the new app includes upgrades to lock screen notifications and a clearer distinction between an alert in the user’s actual location and alerts in predefined areas of interest.
The IDF says the update was developed as part of an “ongoing learning and improvement process by the Home Front Command, and is based on lessons and insights learned during the war.”
