Blinken says he’ll ‘compare notes’ with Lapid on Putin efforts

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he will meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid tonight and “compare notes” in wake of the Israeli efforts to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. They will meet in Riga, Latvia.

Over the weekend Israel’s prime minister shuttled between Moscow and Berlin in a surprise trip as part of efforts to find a way out of the conflict.

“With regard to meetings, I’m not going to get ahead of them. I’ll let them more or less speak for themselves, once I’ve had a chance to actually compare notes with my friend Yair Lapid later this evening here… There’s certainly no change in our message to Moscow, our message to Russia, to President Putin: End the war. End it now.”
