Defense Minister Naftali Bennett says reports of negotiations between Likud and Yamina are nothing more than spin.
“There is nothing, because there never was anything,” Bennett says, paraphrasing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dismissal of criminal charges against him.
Bennett, whose party is heading into the opposition after failed negotiations with the prime minister, accuses Netanyahu of reneging on his promise to annex parts of the West Bank, saying he gave in to pressure from Blue and White leader Benny Gantz and No. 2 Gabi Ashkenazi.
Netanyahu has rejected the right wing and that is why he never wanted Yamina in the government, Bennett says.
“Dismantling the right-wing bloc is Netanyahu’s greatest error of the past decade,” Bennett says.
