The total population living in Israel is estimated at a shade under 10 million, the Central Bureau of Statistics says in a report released ahead of next week’s Rosh Hashanah festival marking the Jewish new year.
No exact figure is given for the current population, but the report says that at the end of 2023, the estimated figure stood at 9,915,000, including foreign nationals currently living in the country.
It marks an increase of 118,000 people over the previous year, or about 1.2%.
During 2023, 183,000 babies were born in Israel, while 55,000 people died.
There were also 33,000 new immigrants. However, there was a negative overall migration of 10,000 people, the CBS says.
