Miriam Peretz formally submits candidacy for president; Glick withdraws

Miriam Peretz formally submits her candidacy for president.

“Fate ordained that the Knesset’s timetable necessitates me to submit my candidacy today, while rockets sound in the background,” she writes on Facebook.

“But it is just at this time, when our country is riven and divided, that we need unity.” She promises to be a uniting president who will bring Israelis closer together.

Meanwhile, former Likud MK Yehuda Glick, considered a longshot candidate, has withdrawn from the race.
