PM’s aide under criminal investigation breaks silence to hail Netanyahu after Iran attack

In rare public comments on X, Jonatan Urich, a close media aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, extols his boss for carrying out the unfolding attack on Iranian nuclear and military facilities.

Urich is under criminal investigation for his role in two separate scandals, the leaked documents affair and the Qatargate affair, and has not posted anything on X since early January.

“Ten years have passed since 2015. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu goes to Congress to fight for our lives against a dangerous nuclear agreement with Iran,” recalls Urich of Netanyahu’s effort to have the US Congress reject the JCPOA nuclear agreement, which the US, China, France, Russia, the UK, Germany and the European Union ultimately signed with Tehran.

“I hear him speak against then-US president Obama, with Elie Wiesel in the audience, in front of a portrait of Moses, and I think of my grandfather who was beaten by Nazis and my grandmother who starving for bread in Siberia, and I say to myself, silently, that this Jew is raising our stature to a height I haven’t read about in books,” writes Urich reverentially.

“With God’s help, we will succeed.”

Urich was released from house arrest at the end of May after being arrested for questioning by the police in connection with the Qatargate affair, in which he is suspected of breach of trust and bribery for having conducted public relations work for Doha while working at the same time as a media adviser for Netanyahu.

Urich is forbidden from being in touch with anyone connected with the alleged violations connected to the two investigations.
