Poll by public broadcaster shows opposition would fail to win majority, even with Hendel and Tropper

A new poll published by the Kan public broadcaster shows the new electoral alliance led by former ministers Yoaz Hendel and Chili Tropper would win four seats if new elections were held today, while ex-IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar again beats out Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud as the largest party.

According to the survey, Yashar would win 22 seats if new elections were held today, followed by Likud with 21 and former prime minister Naftali Bennett’s Together with 15.

The next largest party was forecast to be National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s ultranationalist Otzma Yehudit party with 10 seats, trailed by the right-wing secularist Yisrael Beytenu and left-wing the Democrats with nine apiece, while the ultra-Orthodox Shas and United Torah Judaism parties each picked up eight.

Arab-majority factions Hadash-Ta’al and Ra’am receive five seats each in the poll, which is rounded out by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism and the Hendel-Tropper alliance with four seats a pop.

Blue and White, led by MK Benny Gantz, and the Arab Balad party fail to cross the minimum electoral threshold in the poll.

Without Hendel and Tropper, opposition factions together won 55 seats in the poll, versus 51 for the outgoing ruling coalition. But even with Hendel and Tropper, the opposition would be at 59 seats, still two short of a majority in the 120-seat Knesset.
