Fatah, the dominant faction in the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority, accuses Hamas of launching a “summonses campaign” against Fatah officials in northern Gaza.
It’s unclear what the summonses officially relate to, nor is it clear precisely at what time they were issued, or for when.
Hamas has ruled Gaza since violently ousting PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah forces in 2007.
In a statement carried on Fatah’s Awda TV channel, Fatah says party operative Ayman Halawa and Abdelaziz Al-Daour, a member of Fatah’s regional leadership in northern Gaza, have been summoned by Hamas “for an interview with the internal security apparatus at the governor’s palace.”
“These practices serve only to deepen the internal divide” among the Palestinian people, Fatah says, calling for “an immediate halt to these arbitrary procedures.”
