Injuries reported from falling trees and structures as rain and wind pound Israel
Several people across Israel have been injured as heavy rain and wind pound the country.
Two people were injured, one severely, after they went kitesurfing at a beach in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, according to Hebrew media outlets. Earlier in the day, Tel Aviv had issued a warning for people to stay off its beaches owing to the inclement weather.
The Israel Meteorological Service has issued a red alert over strong winds throughout the country.
In Rishon Lezion, a man was said to be moderately injured after a tree fell on a car. He was evacuated to a hospital by Maged David Adom paramedics. Another person was injured when his car flipped over after being hit by a tree in Ashkelon, the Ynet outlet reported.
And a girl was lightly injured in Hadera after a pergola fell on her.
The stormy weather has also caused road closures and delays at Ben Gurion Airport.
